Overview

Offset is an additional calculation / adjustment applied to your property's rates before they are distributed to a channel or when reservation details are delivered to your Property Management System (PMS).  This functionality provides unparalleled flexibility in how we distribute our rates across various channels.

When is setting up an Offset essential?

  1. Bundling Value: When you are selling an additional product or service (like breakfast, dining credit, or parking) as part of the room rate or as an add-on.
  2. Managing Net vs. Gross Rates: If you operate on a "Sell/Net" model with your channels but receive "Sell/Gross" rates (or vice versa) in your PMS, offsets ensure accurate financial reporting and commission handling.
  • Sell/Gross rate: The full selling rate, including commission.
  • Net rate: The rate after commission has been deducted.

Offset Options Available - Property Connector provides flexibility with the following offset options, which can be applied within specific date ranges if required:

  • Percentage then Fixed amount
  • Fixed amount then Percentage
  • Percentage
  • Fixed amount

Offset provides crucial flexibility in your rate distribution strategy, directly addressing the challenges outlined above.

Types of Offset (Prioritized)

We offer four distinct levels of offset, customizable to your operational needs. The offset with the highest priority will always override any lower-ranking offsets:

  1. Offset on a Product (Channel Room Rate)
  2. Offset on a Room Type
  3. Offset on a Rate Plan
  4. Offset on a Channel

For details instructions on implementing these powerful offset strategies, please refer to the following guides:

By leveraging the Rate Offset functionality in the Property Connector, we can move beyond basic rate distribution and implement sophisticated pricing strategies that drive revenue, optimize channel performance, and enhance our competitive edge.

How can I validate the amount sent to the channel after I set up an offset?

Assuming we have set up a fixed amount of $160 per person on the Product Level (room type DK1 on rate plan OXXBNBEXPE)

For this example, from the PMS Calendar we are getting $1500 from the Property Management System (PMS) on Jun 1.

Go to Main Calendar and click on the channel icon to expand the Adult(s) rates, you are able to view the rates sent to the channel after offset is applied. ($1660 for 1 Adult and $1820 for 2 Adults)
